Belted Galloways on the Pasture

Our belties have almost made it through October on only natural forage. The weather since mid-August has been perfect for growing grass and we have been able to take advantage of it by rotational grazing. our six paddocks have allowed the better forages to re-grow without constant re-grazing. This has meant the cows are able to get fresh forage every 3-5 days. It also helps to break the re-infestation cycle of the parasites. This makes for happier cows and healthier meat. Our goal is to continue to add paddocks and streamline to movement of the cows so they can be moved quickly and more frequently. Next year we hope to produce some of our own hay.
